Kuala Lumpur, Friday, 2 January 2015 - In response to one of the worst floods in Malaysian history, employees from Hong Leong Assurance (HLA) demonstrated their generosity and enthusiasm for helping those in need by pooling together their resources for a cause in order to assist flood victims.
With an estimated total of over a hundred boxes worth of items, employees donated all manner of essentials such as instant noodles, biscuits, mineral water, canned food, toiletries, and diapers. The accumulated items were then driven by volunteers to the collection centre in Menara Star. Ms. Loh Guat Lan, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Leong Assurance said, “We at HLA would like to express our sympathy for the victims affected by the recent floods.”
“As part of our continuous initiative under the HLA Do Good program, we have encouraged our staff to be proactive in their responsibilities towards the community, whether through personal or corporate avenues. We hope that our contribution will ease the burdens of those affected in this time of need.”
The items were handed over to employees from The Star. Working in conjunction with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MCRS) and Firefly for The Star-MRCS-Firefly Relief Fund, the fund is meant to secure supplies for those affected by the victims of the recent floods, whether through cash or kind.
